Converse Women's Athletic Shoes

Although Converse shoes gained popularity as the shoe worn by former National Basketball Association star Chuck Taylor, they actually have a number of high-quality shoes in a wide variety of colours, styles and collections. While Chucks may be the signature shoe of the brand, women's Converse shoes take many forms including trainers, high tops and low tops.

Why Converse?

Besides the association with Taylor, there are many reasons that make Converse shoes such a desirable item. One reason is that Converse shoes tend to be more affordable than many other brands, especially new shoes. While a pair of vintage Chuck Taylors might run you a pretty penny, a brand new pair is extremely affordable. Another feature is that they are highly comfortable. Even a brand new pair of Converse All-Stars or Converse High Tops has a minimal break-in period and they wear just as well walking around the park as they do at the gym. €€

What styles of Converse women's shoes are there?

Converse women's shoes come in a number of different styles:

  • High top
  • Mid top
  • Low top

High tops are the prototypical basketball style shoe. What makes them ideal is the support they offer to the wearer's ankles. Low-top style Converse women's shoes are ideal as cross trainers and working out in a gym, such as for aerobics. Mid tops are a cross between the two other styles and are equally at home on any type of court, whether it's basketball, racquetball or tennis. Either style is ideal for cross training as well. There are also collections available, including four different styles of Chuck Taylors. Some of the other collections available include Pro Leather, CONS and One Star.

What sizes and colours are available?

Converse women's athletic shoes are available in sizes that range from 4.5 to 15.5. The colour selection is as varied as good-sized box of crayons, although white Converse shoes are a classic choice for many women. Patterns are also available, such as camouflage. Most shoes use shoelaces to secure them on the wearer's foot, but there are also a few models that feature Velcro closures.
