Bolts go with nuts

What makes a screw different from a bolt is that a screw forms its own thread in the material being fastened. It doesnt need a nut to fasten two materials together. A screw is tapered, unlike a bolt, and you can get different types of thread spacing and diameter depending on the type of material youre intending to fasten. Again, the two measurements you need to be wary of is the length of the screw and the diameter of the hole youre drilling.
Material matters
Depending on what material youre drilling into, such as timber decking, plasterboard or brick walls, you can get all types of screws and bolts for the job youre doing on eBay.
