Pacifying dummies and soothers

All babies need comfort, and whether you call them dummies, soothers or pacifiers, they can be a great help to both baby and parent in terms of settling.

You can find orthodontic soothers which have soft teats which flatten in the mouth. These can reduce the chance of developing a malaligned bite. Choose from other styles below and more, from popular brands like Tommee Tippee, NUK, Nuby, and Philips Advent.

Newborn

Soothers can be an excellent source of comfort to newborn babies, who often like to suckle themselves to sleep. Whether your baby is breastfed or bottle fed, you may find a dummy or soother helps in settling them when upset or overtired. Shop for a dummy aged 0 to 3 months for the right size for tiny mouths, and always sterilise before use.

3-6 and 6-12 months

Available in different sizes for a comfortable fit as your baby grows, you can choose from a wide range of brands and colours to suit. From silicone to latex, all soothers and dummies can be easily sterilised along with bottles or cups in between uses.

Dummy or soother clips

If there's one things babies aren't great at, it's keeping hold of their soother between uses. Thanks to these clips, which are attached to ribbon material in an array of cute designs, your baby's dummy need never go missing again. You can even choose a personalised one if you like. To ensure safe use, remove the ribbon and clip from your child once they are asleep. Supervise them whilst wearing.

Food strainer and soother

Suitable from six months, this handy pacifier and feeding combo allows you to offer your baby food to taste. You can pop things like soft fruit or vegetables in for your baby to suck through the strainer, leaving any stringy or hazardous bits on the other side. Made of soft silicone, they are a great baby teething product.

Soft toy soother

Doubling as a comforter, these soft toys come with the soother attached, for easy locating in the night time.
