EMGO Motorcycle Exhausts and Exhaust Systems

While some riders are happy with their factory motorcycle exhaust systems, others may need something different. Whether you need to replace a damaged exhaust system or just add a little more style to your regular ride, EMGO exhausts always have something to offer. The right motorcycle exhausts and exhaust system parts can not only boost make your bike look and sound better, but also boost its overall performance.

Understanding Exhaust Systems

Every internal combustion engine needs an exhaust system to keep the combustion products from mixing with the fresh fuel-air charge. Your motorcycle exhaust not only guides the hot gasses safely away from you and your passengers, but also improves performance by ensuring the cylinders vent completely. Finally, the mufflers keep the sound down to legal levels.

Pipes

Motorcycle exhaust pipes, or headers, connect to the exhaust manifold and carry exhaust gasses away from the engine. EMGO makes pipes for a large number of different motorcycles, including both Triumphs and Harleys. These headers reduce back pressure by ensuring the exhaust from two cylinders doesn't collide. One catch is that if you change your exhaust enough you may have to also change your engine control chip to reflect it.

Mufflers

EMGO motorcycle mufflers mount on the rear of your stock or aftermarket pipes. Mufflers have two purposes. They both have to reduce the sound of your engine to tolerable levels, and they have to do it without creating additional back pressure to rob your engine of power.

Choosing Exhausts

The easiest option available is to simply replace your existing mufflers. You can just slip the old ones off and replace them with new EMGO exhausts. That gives you both a better sound and improved performance. It's less of an advantage than replacing an entire exhaust system, but it's easier to do as you don't have to retune your engine for new exhaust characteristics.
