Keep cool with Engel
Engel is one of the world's best-known names in portable refrigeration and freezing. They manufacture fridges, freezers, and fridge-freezer combi units for a wide range of applications including commercial, and healthcare applications, but the Engel name is perhaps best known for their camping coolers, and portable fridges.
Since their start in 1962, the company has sold more than 3 million portable fridge-freezers all around the world. Nearly every camping enthusiast or frequent outback traveller has stories of the Engel fridge that has been passed from father to son, often more than once, or the Engel that survived crashes, rollovers, and accidents that totalled the vehicles carrying them. Many of the first units produced, more than 50 years ago now, are still going strong.
The swing motor that sets Engel apart
The swing motor is the only compressor of its kind, and the design is wholly owned by Japanese company Sawafuji Electric Co Ltd. This forms the core of all Engel fridges, and fridge freezers, and provides the exceptional durability that makes them a favourite of campers in Australia, and all around the world.
Engel fridges and freezers
If you're looking for an Engel fridge, you can't go wrong with one like the Engel Combi MT60F-C. This unit sports a 32-litre fridge and a completely separate 25-litre freezer compartment. It has an all-steel body, and lid, with steel handles which act as tie-down points. However, if a fridge freezer is more what you're after then check out the Engel Eclipse MR40F. But that's not all, find a range of other fridge and freezers by Engel on eBay.
As you might expect from a brand of fridge freezers that are still operable after 50 years, there is a thriving spares market for Engel fridges. Power cords, fuses and other delicate components need to be replaced from time to time, even if the motor, compressor, and main operating components do not. Make sure that the component you buy fits your model though, as they are not all compatible.
