Murano glass

Murano glass is made on the Venetian island of Murano, in Italy, where craftspeople have been producing elaborate and skilfully made glassware for centuries.

For hundreds of years, Murano's glassmakers were at the very cutting edge of the European producers, developing and then refining technologies that include enamelled smalto glass, crystalline glass, lattimo milk glass, golden glass, multicoloured millefiori glass, and imitation gemstones made of glass. Their bold use of colours, pattern and extravagantly spun shapes are very distinctive.

Bohemian crystal glass

Produced in the regions of Bohemia and Silesia, now parts of the Czech Republic, Bohemian crystal, as it is best known, has a long history of being renown the world over for its high quality, striking designs. This crystalware is hand-cut, blown and engraved and their decorative works range from champagne flutes to enormous chandeliers, along with smaller figurines and ornaments.

Iittalia glass

Founded as a glassworks in 1881, in Finland, Iittala's crystal age came about in the 1920s and 1930s when Iittala was recognized for the crystals being produced at their glassworks by the World Exposition in Barcelona. Design-focused from the very start, they have worked with some of the most exciting designers of the twentieth century, producing Iittalia glassware that went on to be in a multitude of awards for innovation and beauty.
