What is Haikyuu?

Haikyuu is a popular Japanese manga comic series that was turned into an anime TV series. The manga comics ran from 2012 through to 2020, while the TV series aired from 2014 – 2020. There are over 50 million copies of the manga comics in circulation today.

The story follows a young man, Shoyo Hinata, who sees the volleyball national championships on TV and becomes obsessed with the game. Nobody at his school is much interested, but he convinces a few people to join a team with him. Unfortunately, they lose their first game, but Shoyo makes a new rival, Tobio Kageyama.

Upon reaching high school, Shoyo finds that Tobio attends the same school and they must play as teammates. From there, the pair come together and go on a journey to restore their school, Karasuno High, to its former glory.
