Tips for buying second hand cars

Shopping around for a new car can be a challenge. Once you've made the decision that you want one, the tough part is choosing, and sometimes even knowing where to start! If you've opted to look for a second hand set of wheels, you're definitely not alone. There are some fantastic bargains to be found on eBay, from collector cars to newer models like the V8 Holden Commodore. Buying a second hand car online just requires a little extra research and care when browsing. Here are a few tips to make sure you get exactly what you’re looking for.

Do Your Research

Before you go and view any cars, do some research to figure out exactly what you’re looking for. Whether you’re after something very specific, like a pre-1940’s collector car, or have no clue where to begin, make sure you’ve decided upon your budget and any features that matter to you.

Plan Your Questions

When you have contacted the seller but before a visit, make sure you have a list of questions so you can find out everything you need to know from them. Questions like why are they selling it, has it been serviced recently and how many miles has it done will all help you decide whether it’s worth the trip to view the car.

Thorough check over

If you’ve decided to go and view the car, use the opportunity as best as you can to really thoroughly check it all over. Check out the inside, outside and underneath to make sure there’s no damage, rust or missing parts. Give the car a decent sized test drive too, using different speeds and if possible on different types of terrain. Don’t feel rushed to make a decision! If you can’t decide, get someone else to come back with you at a later date to help make a decision.

Whatever you’re looking for in your second hand or collectors car, you’ll be sure to find something in the wide range on eBay. Check them out today!
