Industrial Work Gloves

When it comes to working in a hazardous environment, you want to make sure you not only follow all safety precautions at all times, but that you also protect yourself whenever necessary. There are times when you know the risks of your job better than anyone else, and investing in your own personal protective equipment is imperative. One of the things it's good to have on hand at all times is work gloves or industrial gloves. There are several different types you can invest in to help keep yourself safe.

Cotton and Fabric Types

When you're working with tools or working with your hands a lot, you may want to consider cotton and fabric gloves. These types of gloves will protect your hands from spills, abrasions and other small injuries, but they may not protect you from sharp tools and slips. Therefore, you may want to invest in heavier materials to protect your hands.

Medical Gloves

Medical gloves are perhaps the most well-known type of safety gloves, and are important when it comes to medical equipment and supplies. Every hospital and doctor's office should have them. You can find gloves in small, medium and large sizes and made of latex and non-latex types, depending on allergies. The main purpose of medical gloves is to protect from liquids, such as blood and bodily fluids.

Leather Gloves

Leather gloves perhaps are the strongest types of gloves when it comes to working with hazardous materials. These types can protect from burns from welding, cuts and scrapes and other types of injuries. These are often made of rough leather, and are not the smooth leather gloves you think about when it comes to dress gloves. They are often grey with fabric inserts, while the leather protects the most vulnerable parts of the hand.

Rubber and Plastic Gloves

Use rubber and plastic gloves for painting or for coming in contact with hazardous liquids. These are a bit stronger than medical gloves when it comes to their protection level, and can protect you from oils, solvents and other hazardous liquids. Many also use rubber gloves to protect their skin while washing dishes.
