Men's Leather Wallets

Men’s Leather Wallets

A wallet serves an extension of a man’s wardrobe, and since this is an item you use every day, it makes sense to put some thought into your purchase. While there are several materials to choose from, leather remains a top favourite, not just because of its longevity but also because of the style quotient.

The Type of Leather

If you’re looking for top quality, choose aniline-dyed leather over its pigment-coated counterpart. The former comes with a surface that has not been subjected to sanding or coating, and you can see the characteristic pores of the leather. Only around five percent of the world’s leather can be used uncorrected, so expect to pay a tidy sum for such a wallet. All other men’s leather wallets come with coatings used to hide defects in leather.

Bifold or Trifold?

A typical bifold leather wallet offers lesser capacity than a trifold wallet, but it is slimmer and you can fit it into your back pocket more comfortably. While a trifold leather wallet tends to give you more storage space, the more you add in it, the bulkier it becomes. If you plan to sit for extended periods with your wallet in your back pocket, a bifold wallet would be the way to go.

Other Types of Men’s Wallets

Travel wallets are larger than conventional wallets and they come with enough room to keep your passport and other travel documents. They also come with slots where you can keep your cards and cash. If you’re in the habit of carrying loose change, a coin wallet might serve you well. If you use contactless cards and want to add to their safety, you may consider getting a radio-frequency identification (RFID) blocking wallet.

What Goes in Your Wallet?

The basic function of a wallet is to carry money and it will do your wallet good if you don’t stuff it to the point where it’s bursting at the seams. Ideally, your wallet should have no more than some cash, credit and debit cards, business cards, and a photo or two. Your wallet can definitely do with items you don’t use regularly such as your library cards, receipts, and coins.
