If you’re looking for top quality, choose aniline-dyed leather over its pigment-coated counterpart. The former comes with a surface that has not been subjected to sanding or coating, and you can see the characteristic pores of the leather. Only around five percent of the world’s leather can be used uncorrected, so expect to pay a tidy sum for such a wallet. All other men’s leather wallets come with coatings used to hide defects in leather.

A typical bifold leather wallet offers lesser capacity than a trifold wallet, but it is slimmer and you can fit it into your back pocket more comfortably. While a trifold leather wallet tends to give you more storage space, the more you add in it, the bulkier it becomes. If you plan to sit for extended periods with your wallet in your back pocket, a bifold wallet would be the way to go.

Travel wallets are larger than conventional wallets and they come with enough room to keep your passport and other travel documents. They also come with slots where you can keep your cards and cash.
