Perfumes

It seems the range of perfumes these days is just growing and growing and with so many to choose from, it can be difficult to find one that stands out. Conversely, you like too many. Before choosing a fragrance, it is good to understand what you like and what works well on your skin. Not all scents smell the same on everyone so it’s important to try them first if you can. Perhaps you like fresh citrus perfumes, floral or darker musk notes. Whatever you like, there will be women’s perfume or a men’s fragrance that is right for you. Then the only next thing you need to decide is if you need perfume, eau de parfum, eau de toilette or eau de cologne. Each has a different concentration of perfume so will last for varying amounts of time.

Perfume

Perfume is the most expensive version that you will find and you need only a small bit to have a long lasting scent. You will certainly notice the top, middle and bass notes over the course of wearing it. You can apply to places like behind your ears, wrists and on the neck. It has around a 40 percent concentration of essence and comes in a small bottle.

Eau de Parfum

Eau de Parfum has a concentration of 15 to 20 percent of essence and will last a lot longer than other fragrance types. When you first spray eau de parfum, you will immediately notice the top notes, but then after these disappear, the middle notes are much more noticeable. This type of perfume is great for spraying on clothing and hair, but do be careful with some fabrics as it may stain.

Eau de Toilette

Eau de toilette has dominant top notes and smells fantastic when you first apply it, but the smell does fade quite quickly. It has around 10 percent of pure essence and will usually not last throughout the day. Eau de toilette is perfect if you are looking for a light scent and especially good during the summer months.

Eau de Cologne

Eau de cologne has less concentration than other fragrance types with only around 7 percent of pure essence, which then dissolves in 60 to 70 percent alcohol. It doesn’t last very long, which means you need to reapply it throughout the day to keep smelling good. It usually comes in larger bottles and you can spray it on directly to your skin and clothes.
