Common Scents in Perfumes for Women

The vast majority of women's perfumes include floral notes as the base of the perfume. These may include narcissus, gardenia, lily, lavender, rose or even carnation. Some even use oriental flowers, like orange flowers or jasmine, which are generally more subtle. Citrus is a common perfume note, rarely making up the base but often added for complexity, and can include bergamot, lemon, tangerine and much more. Other complexity notes include musk, apricot, sandalwood or amber. These scents are also popular in women's eau de parfum and women's colognes.

Perfume Format Types

Perfume can come in many different formats for different application styles and usage. These include oils, which are rubbed into the skin; loose fluid, which can be added to other beauty products, like shampoos and conditioners; solid bars used like soaps or rubbed briefly along the skin; and simple pump-action sprays.
