Portable Over-the-Counter Inhalers

Portable Inhalers & Nebulisers

Living with asthma and other respiratory conditions can be tough. Luckily, these days you can carry around an inhalers or portable nebuliser to help you prevent and also relieve the symptoms of asthma. An "asthma machine" like this can improve the quality of life for many.

What Is the Difference Between an Inhaler and an Asthma Nebuliser?

An inhaler has a mouthpiece that you insert into your mouth. You use it by pushing down at the vial and inhaling sharply when the medicine releases. A nebuliser on the other hand, usually has a mask that you strap over your nose and mouth. Once the mask is on, the nebuliser switches on and you breathe normally until the medicine is gone. A nebuliser machine, however, can have a mouthpiece instead of a mask.

Which Should I Choose?

Both have their pros and cons, though nebulizers are easier to operate, as you just need to breathe normally. This can be beneficial, especially for children and other asthma sufferers with coordination issues. However, the ease of operation comes at the cost of portability, as nebulisers are much bigger than inhalers, which fit in your pocket. Inhalers are also faster to operate.
