Going Wireless with Your Car Charger

Our smartphones can run out of battery power at the most inconvenient moments, so having access to a charger at all times is imperative. Some people charge their phones in their car as they drive, using either an AC adapter, micro-USB or USB cable, but there are now wireless charging pads and stations that allow you to charge your device without cords.

Qi wireless charging technology uses electromagnetic fields to send energy to your phone and it is compatible with a number of devices, so it's just a matter of choosing the right one for your needs. Any enabled device can work with these chargers, but you do need to make sure that your phone is capable of using the technology.

What Features Can You Choose From?

Because the Qi wireless charger is compatible with many kinds of phones and devices, there's no need to get a specific one to suit a brand unless you wish to. However, some specifically suit the size and shape of certain models or for preference as to how you use your phone. These are some of the features you can choose from:

  • Design: There are a few different styles to choose from that offer wireless charging, including charging pads, phone holders and magnetic chargers that can attach to your dashboard and other parts of the car.
  • Size: The size of your wireless charger depends on how much space you have and what type of charging station you prefer, whether it's magnetic or a holder. They are usually compact in size and can fit in one hand.
  • Brand: Although the technology is the same, there are different brands who make these wireless charging pads, including Baseus, Nillkin and other generic makers.

Which Phones Work with These Wireless Chargers?

Nokia was the first brand of phone to use the wireless charging technology in 2012, but since then most of the other leading brands have followed. These are all of the compatible brands of smartphone that will work with these wireless car chargers, with the technology apparently being open to more in the future.
