Quilling Supplies

For anyone who loves beautiful, creative and fun crafts, paper quilling is the epitome of handcrafted art. Some may see this art as a recent trend; however, it has been around for several decades. It involves rolling strips of paper and bending them or shaping them into beautiful creations. You can use this type of art on cards, frames, gift boxes, and 3D art. Anyone can quill and as a beginner you can easily master this craft through a few hours of practice. To begin any quilling project you will need some supplies including paper quilling strips, a slotted tool, tweezers, needle tool, circle sized ruler, curling coach, crimper tool and white glue. With these tools you can create just about any masterpiece. The only other item you would need is your imagination.

Quilling Paper

To quill, you need special quilling paper strips to create your artwork. There are a few different types of paper that you can use. This paper comes in more than 250 different colours and sizes including 1/8 inches, 1/4 inch and 3/8 inches. There is solid quilling paper, graduated quilling paper, two-tone quilling paper, acid-free quilling paper, and other various parcels of paper. The two-tone paper is where one colour is on one side and another or lighter colour is on the opposite side. Graduated paper is where the edges have colour that slowly fades to white or vice versa. Whatever paper you use, you are sure to create something beautiful with your quilling supplies.

Quilling Kits

For some beginners, starting the hobby of quilling may be overwhelming so choosing to purchase a quilling kit might be the right choice for you. Quilling kits generally include a case to hold all of your supplies including the paper strips and some of the basic tools needed to begin. Additionally, some of these kits may come with projects ideas or simple patterns to inspire you. These are great for people just learning the art of quilling and want to practice their quilling techniques with some simple shapes. Quilling kits are also cost-efficient as they include items you’d have to purchase separately in one entire package.
