Whether you wear them for warmth or fashion, knee-high socks are a necessary addition to any wardrobe. Knee-high socks are available in a huge range of colours, materials, and patterns – you're sure to find something that meets your needs.
Which fibre is better?
Socks are typically made from Polyester socks tend to wick moisture away better than cotton and wool, so they're a good choice if you'll be on your feet a lot – especially if you pick a specialty fabric like CoolMax®. Spandex socks can be great for stretchy coverage over your calves – an area in which a lot of fibres fall down with time.
Be aware that if you're buying from international sellers, the sizing used might be different to what you're used to. US, UK, and EU sizing is all different to Australian sizing for shoes and socks. You can look up your shoe size conversion for each of these regions, or simply measure your feet from heel to the end of your longest toe (hint: this might not be your 'big toe'!) and compare the larger measurement against those offered by sellers. This tends to be the most reliable method of getting a good sock fit.
Choosing the best knee-high socks
The two main problems that women run into with knee-high socks are that they're too tight around the calves, or they fall down during wear. Relying on elastic strips around the tops can be problematic – often these cut in uncomfortably and wear out after a couple of months. But both of these issues can be countered by looking for socks made from high-quality 4-way stretch material in a spandex or polyester.
