Children's furniture is not simply adult furniture in a smaller size, just as children are not simply smaller adults. Children's furniture has to grow with your child and meet their individual needs as they change. Remember, children often live in their bedrooms to a much greater degree than most adults, so the furniture in the bedroom has to reflect all its possible uses.

A child's bedroom is a castle, and children's bedroom furniture has to reflect that fact. One of the best things you can do when buying furniture for your child is to buy a bed with storage under the mattress. Not only does it give them more storage, but it also gets rid of both the monster under the bed, and all the trash that migrates under there.

While many children use closets instead of wardrobes, they still need bookshelves to store various books, and sometimes toys. With larger books and smaller people, you want to focus on fewer shelves, or better yet modular ones so that you can adjust the case for the books your child prefers. Don't forget to fasten your child's bookshelf to the wall. The last thing you want is for the whole thing to come tumbling down because your child wanted to climb just like their favourite movie super-hero.

Children pick up toys and clothes rapidly, so it's important to make sure you give them a space that's easy to organise. Put toy chests in the bedroom and playroom so that they can get their toys off the floor. Nothing can keep children from making a mess, but the easier you make it for them to clean up, the more likely it is to happen.

Children like to spread out, and that's why matching children's chairs and tables are so popular. Low chairs and tables make it easy for them to make use of the surface, while still offering all the space they need to spread out. Just be sure to get something you can clean easily.
