We understand that losing someone close to you can be very difficult. If a friend, family member or associate has passed away and had an active eBay account, you can use our Deceased member report form to get help. To get started, select the button below.

Submitting a request

To resolve current and recent activity on the account, we'll need you to provide us with some details.

Please include your full name, contact details, relationship to the deceased and the member's details, including their full name, birth date, death date, and eBay username if known. You'll also need to use the form to upload an official copy of the death certificate.

Once we've received and reviewed the documents, we'll respond with an update on the account status. We are committed to handling your request with the utmost care.

Positive account balance

If there is a positive balance on the account, the following additional documentation will be required before the funds can be released.

  • Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration appointing you as the executor or administrator of the deceased's estate
  • Your own photo identification, such as a passport or driver's licence, with all information displayed

Closing the account

If you're requesting closure of the account, we'll need you to provide us with the following documentation that shows you have authorisation to act on behalf of the deceased member.

  • Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration appointing you as the executor or administrator of the deceased's estate
  • Your own photo identification, such as a passport or driver's licence
    • You may hide the ID number, title, place of birth, nationality, date of issue, height, eye colour, photo and signature as long as the ID card remains recognisable as a valid form of ID

Be aware that account closure may take up to 60 days if there have been any transactions, payments, claims or disputes in the previous 30 days.

Please read our User Privacy Notice to see how we handle personal data after account closure is complete.
