You can add one video per listing, between 5 and 60 seconds long which will autoplay in eligible placements across eBay such as search results and listing pages. If a placement doesn't support video, your ad will automatically show your primary listing image instead.
There's no change to how you're charged. Promoted listings with video continue to use the same cost-per-click pricing as promoted listings with static images.
Adding and managing videos
Here's how to add video to your priority campaign listings:
- Go to the Advertising Dashboard - opens in new window or tab
- Select Create new campaign.
- Select a Priority campaign strategy.
- Add listings to your campaign.
- Add videos to your listings.
- You can upload a short video to any listing that doesn't have one. If you're uploading a video for the first time, the video will be added to your listing. You can remove it at any time by editing your listing
- If a listing already has a video, you can:
- Keep the existing video
- Upload a new video just for ads, which will expire when your campaign ends
- Opt out of using video for that listing
If you delete a listing video that's being used in an ad, video ads stop running for that listing. If you replace the video that's being used on an ad in the listing, the new video will be used in the ad.
Rule-based campaigns
If a listing in your rule-based campaign has an approved video, it will now be automatically enabled to appear as a video ad. We'll use the video you've already added to the listing, so there's no need to upload it again or create a separate campaign.
- For existing campaigns, video ads are automatically enabled
- For new campaigns, video ads are enabled by default. You can opt out before launch but you can't change this selection after the campaign launches
- Listings without approved videos will continue to appear as image ads
- Your existing cost-per-click pricing stays the same
Review and approval
Once you upload a video, it's reviewed before it appears in your ad. To be approved, it has to comply with eBay's video format requirements as well as eBay's images, videos and text policies.
Most videos are reviewed within 48 hours, but during busy periods it can take up to 7 business days. While your video is under review, your ad will continue to run with a static image. If there's an issue with the video file itself, or if something goes wrong during upload or processing on our end, you'll be prompted to upload a different video or try uploading again
Performance and reporting
Here's how to see how your ads with are performing:
- Go to the Advertising Dashboard - opens in new window or tab.
- Use the Ad format filter and select Video.
- In Campaign Grid, select Customise table to add video metrics.
You'll then be able to see the following metrics:
- Impressions: The number of times your ads have appeared on any eBay site
- Viewable Impressions: The number of times your ad was considered viewable. An impression is counted as viewable when at least one pixel of your ad is visible on screen for at least one continuous second
- 25%, 50% and 75% View Rates: % of viewable impressions that reached the corresponding percentage of video play
- Video Click-through Rate (CTR): How often people click your ad after it becomes viewable. This rate is equal to the number of clicks your ad receives divided by the number of times your ad was viewable
- Video Completion Rate: The percentage of times the video played to the end. Calculated by dividing video completions by video views and multiplying by 100
Tips for creating effective videos
Highlight what matters to buyers: Focus on key features, use cases and setup to answer common buyer questions.
Prioritise product demos: Show your product in action with demos, tutorials, or how-to content.
Show key details clearly: Capture attention quickly with sharp, close-up shots that highlight the product and its most important features.
Keep videos concise: Aim for 5–15 seconds so you can communicate the key information quickly. Avoid videos shorter than 5 seconds or over 60 seconds long.
Design for sound-off viewing: Use clear visuals and captions so your message is easy to understand without audio. Audio is muted unless a buyer selects the unmute button.
Optimise your video format: Use a horizontal 16:9 aspect ratio for optimal sizing in search results. Videos can be in MP4 or MOV Format.
Keep your video relevant: Focus on the product included in the listing and avoid unrelated items or messages.
