Ship with an eBay prepaid label

For casual sellers, sending your items is getting even easier and cheaper with a new, lower-cost shipping experience. When your item sells, you'll get a prepaid Australia Post label, with tracking automatically added and expanded protections in case of delivery issues.

Starting from 11 November 2026, we are launching an improved prepaid label experience for Australia-based sellers who are enrolled in free selling.

Once the new experience is enabled for your account, you'll be required to use the prepaid label provided by eBay to send eligible items within Australia. In the meantime, you'll still generally be required to buy a shipping label on eBay to send your sold items.

To offer alternative postage options, you'll need a Pro plan - opens in new window or tab. We offer 4 eBay Pro plans to choose from, including a Pro Starter plan that has no monthly cost.

eBay prepaid labels help you stay competitive on shipping, with discounted rates compared to what you would pay at the post office.

      • When listing your item, you don't need to work out how much to charge your buyer – eBay calculates the applicable domestic shipping cost based on their delivery address
      • If you choose to offer free shipping, you'll pay a simple discounted flat rate based on your parcel's weight, no matter where your buyer is located
      • At checkout, your buyers will also see the convenient, lower-cost delivery option of picking the item up from an Australia Post locker or post office (where available)

If your buyer is paying for delivery, we'll add the label cost to their total at checkout. If you've offered free shipping, the cost of the label will be deducted from your sales proceeds before the funds are made available.

      How it works

If your listing is eligible, you'll automatically receive a prepaid label when the item sells. You'll see Ship with eBay in the listing flow and Get prepaid label after the item has sold.

      Here's how it works:

      1. We'll set shipping options for you. When creating your listing, you just need to make sure the package size and weight are correct for your item. We'll work out the costs for you, and you can decide whether you'd like to offer free shipping.

      2. Get a prepaid label when the item sells. Once the buyer has paid, we'll provide a prepaid label. Simply pack up your item, attach the label and drop off the parcel at a convenient Australia Post location near you. If you don't have a printer, you can download the label as a QR code and get it printed in store.

      3. Your parcel is tracked and protected. Tracking is uploaded automatically for your buyer. Once you've dropped off the item and Australia Post scans the package, you'll be protected if the item is lost or damaged in transit. We'll work directly with your buyers to handle eligible 'item not received' or return requests for you. Learn more about our seller protections.

      Eligibility

Shipping with eBay prepaid labels is available to sellers in our free selling experience, for most items sent within Australia. We're working to make this option available to Pro sellers in future.

Some items aren't eligible for a prepaid label, and you may choose an alternative shipping method for these.

      Excluded items

      • Items listed for over $750
      • Items sold for less than $40 that may be sent in an envelope. These include: trading cards, comics, magazines, coins and banknotes, jewellery, CDs/DVDs/video games, patches, postcards, greeting cards, seeds, stamps, stickers and decals
      • Items where a label isn't available, such as heavy or bulky items
        • Parcels can be up to 105 cm on the longest side (0.25 m3 max volume) and up to 22 kg
        • Parcel locker options are only available for parcels up to 40 x 30 x 10 cm and up to 3 kg
      • Orders where the buyer selected local pickup

If an item you sold is not eligible to be shipped with an eBay prepaid label because it's listed for over $750 or is being sent internationally, you may still be able to buy your shipping label on eBay.

If you move from free selling to eBay Pro

For more flexible shipping options, you can become a Pro seller. You'll be able to set your preferred shipping options on any new listings straight away.

If you have existing listings, they'll continue to have the Ship with eBay option until you revise or relist them. This means you could still receive a prepaid shipping label for items sold after your Pro plan is active.

If you move from eBay Pro to free selling

If you cancel your Pro plan, we'll automatically update the shipping options on your listings when the cancellation takes effect.

Getting your prepaid label and QR code

When your eligible item sells, you'll receive a prepaid Australia Post shipping label and QR code. We're working to make additional carriers available in future.

Here's how to get your prepaid label and QR code:

      1. Go to Orders in My eBay - opens in new window or tab or Seller Hub - opens in new window or tab.
      2. Find the order and select Get prepaid label.
      3. You'll then be given an option to save or print your label and QR code.

If you're printing the label, print it on to normal A4 paper and tape it to the package, then take it to your nearest Australia Post post office, street posting box or parcel locker - opens in new window or tab.

If you don't have a printer, you can save the QR code on your device and bring it with you when you take the package to the post office. The staff will scan the QR code, print your label and attach it to the package for you.

      Tip
If the label you've received doesn't seem to be the correct size or weight for your item, you can still use it. Your item will still be accepted by Australia Post as long as it's within the size and weight limits for prepaid labels. Additional charges may apply if you had declared the item's weight or dimensions incorrectly when listing.

      Shipping and tracking your items

Shipping will automatically be combined if your buyer purchases multiple items from you and completes checkout in one transaction. If the buyer purchased the items on separate checkouts, shipping won't be combined.

If you're sending multiple items from one order, all items will need to fit in one package to meet the package limits. For tips on packaging, see our Packing your sold items article.

Tracking is automatically uploaded for you and you can track the status of your item in the Orders section of My eBay - opens in new window or tab or Seller Hub - opens in new window or tab. If your item can't be delivered to the buyer, it'll be returned to you.

      Restricted or prohibited items

Items listed on eBay need to comply with eBay's policies, including our prohibited and restricted items policies. As well as complying with eBay's policies, items shipped with this program need to comply with Australia Post's guidelines for prohibited and restricted items - opens in new window or tab.

We recommend checking these policies before you print your prepaid label and before you ship your item.

Change or cancel a prepaid label

It's not possible to cancel a prepaid label. As part of our free selling experience, you're required to use the label to send your eligible items. Bear in mind that you won't be able to view the buyer's delivery address on the order details page or upload tracking to the order manually, so sending the item with a different shipping service could affect how you're protected as a seller and how long it takes for funds from your sale to become available.

The buyer's address is prefilled on the prepaid label, so you won't be able to edit it. If the buyer made a mistake with the address, you can cancel the transaction and ask the buyer to repurchase the item with the correct address.

      Troubleshooting tips

If you experience any problems, the following tips may help:

      • If your item is too large to drop off at an Australia Post parcel locker, you can take it to the post office
      • Your prepaid label is valid for 30 days after it is created. You can reprint the prepaid label if you need to, but you can only use it once

When your eligible item sells, you'll receive a prepaid shipping label and QR code – you don't need to purchase your own label separately. Once you drop off your item with Australia Post, your item is protected from transit-related issues.
