This unit looks like a big improvement over the cheaper $8 models that only tune from 24 Mhz to 1700 Mhz but can't get Short Wave since it is claimed to go down to 0.1 Mhz which would cover Long Wave and Short Wave but it doesn't really work out that way. It seems to be just one of the $8 models with an up converter permanently connected to the input and it can't cover the full spectrum from 0.1 Mhz to 1.7 Ghz in one sweep, you have to stop at 24 Mhz and change modes. It's way too expensive for what it does unless you consider that you are also getting an up converter that's of limited use along with it. One problem is that it only works properly with SDRSharp ver. 1488 which can cover both Long and Short wave as well as VHF and UHF but that version is hard to find. I tried the latest version of SDR# that's available from their website as well as some older versions that I already had and some versions can get LW and SW but not VHF and UHF while other versions can get VHF and UHF but not LW or SW and some versions are just too noisy to hear anything! Also, it doesn't go down to 0.1 mHz like they claim and can't actually receive anything below 400 kHz on LW! I have 4 LW radio beacons in the area on 201 kHz, 245 kHz, 338 kHz and 407 kHz but this unit can only receive the one on 407 kHz and nothing below that!Read full review
