Saved my Christmas cake!
Our Kenwood Chef ( bought in 1984) went up in smoke whilst my wife was mixing the ingredients for our annual cake making ritual with our grand daughter. She managed to finish that one but had another coming up and needed the Kenwood to be working for the following week. I ordered the parts and they came very quickly with good instructions and a point of reference The parts needed soldering in ( not easy) and you need to have a basic knowledge of soldering with the right tools However, I soldered the parts as per the instructions, put the mixer back together and was pleased to say it started and worked 1st time, with no smoke! My wife got the ingredients together for cake No2 and the Kenwood worked perfectly resulting in a very happy grand daughter, a beautiful cake which is going to be ... Enormous feel-good factor for a very small outlay.
Our Chef has been perfectly OK for about 40 years but then decided to produce copious amounts of smoke whilst whisking some eggs. As long as you are mildly capable of using screwdrivers and a soldering iron, you'll have no problems mending your Chef with this kit. The instructions are absolutely perfect. Apart from saving around £500, the best bit is the satisfaction gained from doing a proper repair and knowing that in doing so, you've saved a beautifully designed machine from the landfill. Kenwood designed their Chefs to last. There's no glue, no clips, no screws screwing into plastic parts etc etc. A dream to work on.
