This is another fast-and-easy, laugh-out-loud, can't-put-down, constant-action book. You've gotta LOVE it!!! I certainly did. After Steph and Lula witness a robbery at the local market and shoot and destroy the perp's get-away vehicle (his bicycle), they see his face when he yanks off his mask in utter frustration. As a result, he's bound and determined to wipe them out before they can identify him, and with a hit contract out on them, they go on the run with the Slayers gang hot on their heels. In desperation, Steph borrows one of Ranger's SUV's, and with the help of a forgotten GPS system she manages to stumble onto, back-tracks the system to Ranger's hideaway. Could it be the infamous "bat-cave"? (You'll have to read the book, because that's all I'm going to say on THAT subject.) With the Slayers stalking her, she figures the safest place to hide is Ranger's place, and 'breaks in' to his 'ultra-secure' domain despite the security. He's on a secret mission for the next few days, and Steph 'moves in', eating his food, sleeping in his bed, and wallowing in his decadent bath gel (which is why he always smells so delicious). Meanwhile, 'perfect' sis, Valerie, plans a Kloughn wedding, and the whole family takes over, literally shoving her aside and making her life miserable. There's so much going on in this book, more character developement with most of the characters, another car explosion (what would the Plum series be without Steph's cars exploding???), more steamy sexual escapades, and more wonderfully lovable characters (Sally Sweet, the resident punk-rocking drag queen, returns!). This book is definitely another hit with readers!!!Read full review
HUMOR JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER- THERE IS NO BETTER LAUGH!!! This was another enjoyable novel about Stephanie Plum. this one had more serious issues and more real fear. Stephanie, who really is a smart gal, chronically makes stupid mistakes. In this novel, she explores the consequences of the stupid mistake more fully, revealing more of her personal insight into the direness of her situation. The humor just keeps getting better and better- it improves continually in creativity and in volume with each novel written. It is the NUMBER ONE thing that I seek the novels for and Evanovich herself is really growing and expanding in her humor. I often reread several times the paragraphs full of crazy crazy satire. It's like a magnificent chocolate chip cookie! I never want it to end but eventually I have the paragraph memorized and must move on. I have read this entire series and I can now see exactly when the fulfillment of the plot is going to occur- its always right after stephanie makes the momentous stupid mistake. In real life we are all probably making stupid mistakes constantly, but it would help if this key mistake in every book was disguised better and conflicting emotions showing that Stephanie is aware she is making a bad choice were added. I would like for her to once look ahead and see exactly where she is leading herself, grow in her insight, and then cleverly go through with it, or skirt it, or come up with an entirely different but shrewd plan of action. I could then have my faith in her grow along with experiencing her deeper depths. Right now it's getting hard to keep up professional respect for her because she NEVER learns. As a side note, Ranger is becoming menotonous. He needs depth BAD.Read full review
This is one of my favorite books in the Stephanie Plum series. I was recently introduced to the series and fell in love with it. These are quick, light reads. Each book in the series has a little suspense, drama, action, romance and laughter. Janet Evanovich writes some amazingly funny dialog in all of her books...anytime Grandma Mazur speaks you're bound to laugh out loud! Ten Big Ones is no exception...I recommend reading all of them and can't wait for book thirteen to come out. Books by Janet Evanovich also seem to do fantastic on the resale market. I am currently looking for a set of her "Full" series and have been outbid on ebay three times. So you can't go wrong with reading and investing in this book or others in her series.
I purchased the Janet Ervanovich novel to continue reading the complete series by the number of bounty hunter/bond enforcer, Stephanie Plum. The novel is entertaining taking Stephanie from the destruction of one vehicle after another to the two beyond complicated romances in her life, Ranger and Joe. There is never a dull moment while reading this and the "tongue in cheek" humor can bring on many laugh out loud moments. If you are only reading one of the Stephanie Plum novels or the complete series you are certain to be entertained.
This is number 10 in the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. They are about a female bounty hunter. She not so skilled at bounty hunting as she is lucky. These books are laugh out loud funny and great for men or women. But I would recommened starting at book one and work your way through. But don't be discouraged they are a very fast read.
