Having always been a Jethro Tull fan all of my life, I never missed an opportunity to catch a Tull concert if they were anywhere close by. To date, I have attended 18 of these affairs! Among my top 3 Favourites was the "Thick As A Brick" concert. This is why I generate toward this title. This album was far ahead of its' time, in that it is one long rock song. There are no "track" or interruptions. One would listen to the 45 minute opus, start to finish. While at a concert, the boys would likewise play 45 minutes start to finish. For those with a short attention span, this is not for you! As for the MFSL variation, it's all in the quality of the music. If you have a set up of high enough means to appreciate the higher sonic quality of the recording, then it's incumbent on you to select the MFSL variation of almost any title it re-issues. For the uninitiated, MFSL or Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs, would buy the rights to re-master and re-issue an album of substance onto their famous 24K GOLD PLATED CD's using the most state of the art equipment and usually better sampling rates to achieve what can only be called a sonic masterpiece! The disc looks almost like a piece of jewelry or art with it's Black & Gold(24k) appearence. An expensive "pop-up" disc holder is employed with redone Booklets in the MFSL motif. A true sonic masterpiece! Now if you're going to play it on a Wal Mart Boom Box, don't bother. If, however, you have a system of means. I highly recommend this or any other title under the MFSL umbrella.Read full review
This gold disc has that warm sound like vinyl, but a bit more vivid with more original stereo seperation. A really good sound all around.
