Joe Pistone (Johnny Depp) is an FBI who mole ingratiates himself into the Mafia pecking order by posing as "jewel man" Donnie Brasco. He finds his loyalties divided when Lefty Ruggiero, a jaded hit man, takes him on as a protege and places real trust in him. The two men form a friendship--and a criminal partnership--that jeopardizes Brasco's mission and obscures the boundaries between the law and the underworld. The film is based on the autobiography DONNIE BRASCO, MY UNDERCOVER LIFE IN THE MAFIA by former undercover agent Joseph D. Pistone. Directed by Mike Newell (FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL) and also starring Bruno Kirby (THE FRESHMAN, THIS IS SPINAL TAP), Michael Madsen (RESERVOIR DOGS) and Anne Heche (WAG THE DOG).

    One of the best Mafia movies ever made.

    This is a fantastic mafia film made all the better by being a true story.FBI agent Joe Pistone goes undercover and immerses himself with a mafia family,after gaining their trust he is involved in all sorts of crime with them,he is secretly recording all meetings and passing the tapes on to his FBI colleagues,after the FBI have enough evidence to bring charges against the mafia family,the mafia are informed that 'Donnie Brasco'(Joe's alias name)is really FBI special agent Joe Pistone,Joe now lives in the Witness Protection Program and will be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life.This movie is awesome and features Hollywood big hitters Al Pacino,Johnnie Depp and Michael Madson amongst others.

    Need to update DVD

    The film is great. Unfortunately due to the fact that the DVD itself is old it the actual picture only appeared on a small part of the screen. For the film itself 5 stars
