I was looking forward to obtaining this DVD. One of my reasons was because this movie is about Jack Roosevelt Robinson who became the first African American to play in Major League Baseball (MLB). The second reason was because the role of Mr. Robinson was played by that famous African American actor, Chadwick Boseman, who recently transcended. The sound and quality of the picure was great. It excellently depicts a true story concerning an era in America's history about the ability of one man to persevere against all odds. I highly recommend this film to all who are interested in viewing a film based on a true story and for those who lived during the era.

    • Excellent movie!!! 5 Stars!!!

We showed this movie to our junior high students as part of a cross-curricular Civil Rights unit. The students were riveted. The movie is destined to be a classic, with excellent acting and a powerful message. I have watched it many times, and have given several of the DVDs as gifts. My favorite quote was when Jackie asked Branch if he wanted a player who didn't have the guts to fight back, and Branch Rickey answered, "No, Jackie, I want a player who has the guts NOT to fight back." And despite all that he had to endure, Jackie fulfilled that promise and opened up many doors for those who would follow. I cannot say enough good things about this movie!

    • Excellent video containing great acting and a great story of the battle against racism in major league baseball

An accurate portrayal of courage and determination to right the wrong of racism that was perpetuated and supported by Major League baseball long after the elimination of slavery in America. Chadwick Bozeman is excellent in depicting the the character of the main character, Jackie Robinson from his time as a minor league baseball player until his breakthrough of the color barrier in major league baseball at that time.

    • " WONDERFUL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Movie"

This is an EXCELLENT!!!!!!! movie, that is" EXTREMELY" factual & enlightening. Given all the the racial : mental & physical," injustices" Mr. Jackie Robinson endured, just to play baseball in America in the 1940's. WOW!!!!!!!!!!it's so SAD how humans treat HUMANS just because of : skin "color." "BLESSED" you :"Mr. JACKIE ROBINSON & Mr. CHADWICK BOSEMAN (two) HEROS, (R.I.H.)

    • Jackie Robinson's courage

great film.it was eye opening to see how black players were treated in those days. What a tribute to Jackie Robinson to have the courage to break down the barrier for black players to play major league baseball.
