About this product

Product Information

David Fincher's feature debut, ALIEN 3, picks up almost directly after the events in ALIENS, finding Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) frozen in suspended animation as her ship crashes on Fiorina 161, a prison planet. When awakened by the prison's staff, she discovers that she is the sole survivor of her crew. Trapped on a barren planet with convicts and no weapons of any kind, Ripley soon realizes that an alien was also on the ship and has survived. As the savage creature begins to massacre inmates, Ripley bands together with the remaining prisoners and attempts to destroy it by wits alone. Filmed at a time when big guns and high technology dominated the screen, ALIEN 3 deserves commendation for its unique premise--battling a vicious alien creature with no weapons and almost no resources whatsoever. This scenario makes for an unusual and intriguing science fiction thriller that is also notable for Fincher's bleak industrial visuals; the film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

  • A powerful film

This is the original version of the film presented in widescreen format. Extras include behind the scenes featurette, trailers for all the other Alien, Aliens, and Alien Resurrection, and a video game ad. This movie is known for being the downer of the lot. The camera work and set design is dreary, stark, uninviting, and beautifully done. Fine performances from the cast all around, and an impressive feature film debut for director David Fincher, who would go on to make Fight Club. Ultimately, it's a movie about sacrifice, I suppose. The ending is sad, unexpected, and majestic all at once, thanks in part to the terrific score. I feel like it would be a wonderful movie in it's own right, but when placed within the larger Alien storyline, it just seems unneeded. They killed all ...

  • Like the first 4 Alien movies after that more for younger generation.

There are certain episodes scratched up can’t play. 12-13-14 I think. Would like to return for one better shape. Thank you!

  • Skip it

After the thrilling and powerful "Alien" and "Aliens", this movie is a serious disappointment. Real fans of the series like to pretend that it never happened. What were they thinking? They killed off two of the most interesting characters from "Aliens" before the movie even started. Then they dumped Ripley (Weaver) into an odd sort of monastic penal colony. Weaver and Samuel L Jackson's performances were the one bright spot in an otherwise dismal sequel to a series that deserved a whole lot better. This movie is a rental only.
