    I have been repairing watches for some 12 years and still know very little of the true art, I have a large collection of watchmaking books, many of them are only suitable for highly trained proffesionals, I need books that can teach me what I can not teach myself, I am an engineer by trade and found the book very interesting, I would advise that it is still not for the novice, it is taken for granted that the reader already knows how to solder, cut, file, shape both steel and brass plus has a good understanding of lathe work. "Using a mainspring winder, fit the mainspring to the barrel" doesn't tell me how to preform this task, experts may laugh- but if you have never done it or seen it done?? As the preface says "this book was prepared as a reference work for the student in horological ...
