About this product

Product Information

Based on a true story, SCHINDLER'S LIST is Steven Spielberg's epic drama of World War II Holocaust survivors and the man who unexpectedly came to be their savior. Unrepentant womanizer and war profiteer Oskar Schindler uses Polish Jews as cheap labor to produce cookware for the Third Reich. But after witnessing the violent liquidation of the walled ghetto where the Krakow Jews have been forced to live, Schindler slowly begins to realize the immense evil of Nazism. When his employees are sent to a work camp, they come under the terrorizing reign of sadistic Nazi Amon Goeth (Ralph Fiennes). With the help of his accountant, Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley), Schindler creates a list of "essential" Jews. Bribing Goeth, Schindler manages to get 1,100 people released from the camp and brought to the safety of his munitions factory in Czechoslovakia. Spielberg's glorious film is wondrously evocative, visually stunning, and emotionally stirring.

    So moving. Cried throughout.

Only the heartless could watch this movie and not be emotionally affected. It shows you a true glimpse into what happened. And even with all it's accurate graphic displays, it's only the tip of the iceberg of what happened throughout the war. The movie is so moving, it captures you, you feel their pain, you cry with them. You scream at the Nazis, you clutch at your heart with each unexpected moment. You ride this rollercoaster, low, high, low, high. It was so well directed, the actors were so convincing. You felt has if it was happening right before your eyes. I love this movie, I love that this story was told. But I hate that it actually happened. As good as this movie was, I would much rather the true events had never occurred. But I am grateful that there was some good men and women ...

  • Deeply disturbing with a ray of hope.

This movie chronicles the most horrific atrocities that occurred during World War II, the holocaust! This movie is especially important today, with the separations of people into their own race or tribe, not seeing people outside their tribe as relevant. While this movie portrays the worst case scenario, if people don't believe it's happening today on much smaller scales, they are not paying attention. In the movie, a tiny number of Jews had Schindler as their savior, who do we have now?

  • Finally, the long play version is here

The best reason to get the Blue Ray edition of Schindler's List is it is the only version that allows you to pop it in and watch the entire film without a break to change the tape, or disk, or flip the disk over. The only thing I would say disappointed me was no new special features, and the original special features are on the DVD version and thus are not in the upscale Blue Ray format. The transfer has a richer quality and one can see much more of the detail, like the texture of the material of a suit jacket, or being able to read a sign in the background. I highly recommend this set.

  • Shindler's List DVD Blu ray

This is one of the best films I have ever seen in my life about the persecution of the Jewish people during World war II. It is a very sad story that really happened, but shows that even in dark times there are those that do become bright lights to the rest of us as an example of doing what is right even when no one else is.

  • We must never forget....

Fact based. A stark reminder of the second such war within a century. Have we made progress? 55 years later this is debatable. Look at the build-up of prejudice & bigotry around you. Perhaps within you. Why? War will come again. Of this there is no doubt.
