Terry Gilliam populates this labyrinthine, apocalyptic film with twisted characters and eerie revelations. The film was shot primarily in Philadelphia; Gilliam uses the more dilapidated area of the city to the film's apocalyptic advantage. The film is based on the 1962 French short film LA JETEE. The Signature Laserdisc includes a feature on the film's making.

    Masterpiece

    Great plot musing on the nature of time and how humans relate to it - and each other. Definite serious metaphysical content, although there is so much fun, action & humour, this could be missed. Weird & gripping at times, sometimes very realistic; and that clash of styles really works too. Has a beautiful love story entwined in the plot. Great acting from all the cast - including the smaller roles such as doctors / asylum staff. The future scenes are genuinely weird. Some hilarious scenes - the TV wall, the hardman pimp turned cry-baby, bring a LOL on every view. Many references to earlier artworks, films etc. Definitely rewards repeat views, there is a lot to uncover. One of the best films of all time!

    No doubt during this crazy time this is the best "virus" film you will ever see. Unpredictable, exhilarating confusion 'til the end. When the film ends, ask yourself if you agree or not. Bruce Willis, Madeleine Stowe and Brad Pitt at their very best.

    A truly weird film to make sense of, but once you have, it is a great story and Bruce Willis is mint in this. Brad Pitt is excellent as a madman and Madeline Stowe looks gorgeous as ever... Very good watch. Enjoy!
