Payback Time
"Cousin Bette" was 1st seen on masterpiece Theater in the early 70's with Margaret Tyzack as the unmarried, middle-aged woman, who earns her living as an embroiderer. Problem is that Bette seethes with resentment toward her wealthy family. The breaking point is when her niece steals away her handsome protege, and at this point Bette is blinded by revenge. The movie is based on a novel by Honore de Balzac and is set against the splendor of Paris. There are 5 episodes on this DVD and each slowly builds up to the suspenseful ending. Dramatic view of Helen Mirren
It was fun to see the early career of Helen Mirren at the BBC and how she acted on these episodes. Margaret Tyzack also had a fantastic role acting the way she did. They both have the right roles for their ages. It is worth watching for someone who didn't see it while growing up.
