About this product

Product Information

This book is about the Chicano experience of living within, between and sometimes outside of two cultures--the damnation and salvation, and the celebration of it all. In some ways a book Erma Bombeck might have written, that is, if she were from El Paso, dressed in Tony Lama boots, and full fledged member of raza.--Gary Soto A passionately lyrical lección para todos about the history of the Western and Southwestern people. Burciaga is deeply rooted in the indigenous realities.--Carlos Santana

  • Drink Culutra is the Enlightening

After reading this book a couple of times, I still can not get enough of the Chicanismo that is written for us by one of us. I especially liked the chapters: Jalapeno, Pendejeismo, Consulate, and Chief Whatyousay. This book brigs to light the Chicano community in the San Francisco/San Jose Bay Area. It is a must read for Chicanos and those who are half breed like me. If you lived the life of a Chicano then you will understand this MAN's writings.

  • Funny & Engaging

I love the stories in this book, all things many of us, born in the U.S. of "immigrant" parents can relate to...made me laugh out loud, question things, analyze things, and just want to keep reading. LOVED IT!

  • College or Recreational

This is totally awesome book about the Mexican culture. I love it and am not selling it at the end of the semester. c/s
