About this product

Product Information

Canadian developer BioWare's first role-playing game after Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is set in a mythic version of ancient China, at a time when a parallel world of darkness and chaos threatens to cross over into the realm of the living. Players initially choose from a selection of predefined characters, each with a name, background, and distinct skill set. Although the character’s appearance cannot be changed, users may choose to rename their hero and decide on a combat style. They will then be able to gradually shape their character's fighting style from over 20 different types, from martial arts to weapons-based combat to even magic. Combat is performed in real time from a third-person perspective, with players able to pause the game to execute specific commands during the fighting sequences.

Body, mind, and spirit are the three primary attributes inherent in each character, with mastery over these guiding forces improving both the character's strength and influence. Though the game follows the path of one character instead of a party, players can earn "followers" to their cause. Only one follower may be selected at a time to follow the protagonist into combat, with the others remaining at a campsite and available for conversation. Throughout the game's seven chapters, players will travel between distant locations using a flying ship. These travel sequences can either be skipped or played as a vertically scrolling shooter mini-game.

The limited edition includes an additional playable character, a making of the game video, and three game demos (Forza Motorsport, Conker: Live & Reloaded, and MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf).

    It's Awesome Sauce

Great game, I had to replace a damaged Jade Empire Disk I had with a new game disk, I missed playing it, plus I wanted to see if I could still defeat Sun Li the Glorious Strategist in 1 on 1 combat, I see I still haven't lost my touch, though it's still a good challenge & I also helped the orphans that died in the flood of Tien's landing, I've almost forgotten how fun it was to play. the game was in perfect condition among receiving it.

Overall ok. Based on EBay’s “Good” category it’s indeed good. That said I personally found it a bit disingenuous to receive the game to find the case

  • Jade Empire (Review by Lobo)

Jade Empire is an awesome game it is a mixture of RPG, Fighting, & adventure. you play as one of 6 Characters (7 if you have the Limited Edition) and start off in the practice ring of your school where you are nearing the end of your martial arts training. almost fluid fighting and speech. there are several styles of combat to choose from ranging from leaping tiger where you attack & sefend with steel claws to maribell a musket loading gun with a powerfull but slow fire rate & fortunes favorite a speedy longsword which has the ablity to decapitate your opponent. superb graphicsmake this game one of the best on the market, & along with combat styles, speech, & the ability to choose if you will be good or evil makes this game one of the most enjoyable games i have played, the path choices ...

  • If only M$ had exclusives like this now!

Jade Empire was way ahead of its time and Bioware was coming into their own. I loved Knights of the Old Republic so I knew the quality Bioware was capable of and Jade Empire delivered on all fronts! If you've never played this game then you need to do yourself a favor and check it out. It's bittersweet because Bioware used to be an amazing developer but now they are just a shadow of their former selves!

  • Excellent Game...

I bought Jade Empire solely because it was made by Bioware (who did the first Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic RPG) I enjoyed that game so much and I had seen some screen shots to Jade, that I had to buy it. I was glad I did. At first, the character creation seemed a little simplistic compared to KOTOR I and the combat system was a little alien (real-time with a decent amount of control...sorta like Tekken 5: Devil within mini-game) but I soon loved it and I have a hard time going back to KOTOR's turn based system after I could fight over a dozen opponents in Jade and rely more on reflexes and strategy than my AC and how quickly I could heal. It captures the Good/Evil aspect of KOTOR quite well and allows for repeat play. Pros: There are some big levels and it is pretty well ...
