    Happy with this purchase!

Great zoom capabilities and rivals my Canon L lenses in quality. Heavy as to be expected, definitely carry the camera by the lens not the lens by the camera. A good camera strap that not only secures the camera body but the lens as well, with the most weight bearing on the lens support. Not a lens for the faint of heart or short of breath, but will get the image in the 50-500mm zoom range. A good mono-pod works well for lower light situations. The OS (optical stabilization) works well in most handheld applications. A handful for sure, but a small price to pay for securing a WOW image.

  • SIGMA APO 50-500mm Lens

It is a fine lens, other than the locking mechanism on the zoom doesn't work. I knew that before I bought it as it was a replacement of the same lens that I had bought new a number of years ago that was dropped and not repairable.

  • Love it. A great mid-range lens for wildlife and events.

This is one heavy lense, but worth every ounce. On the beach, it brought the whales up close. Get lens, but I would recommend a stout tripod. My light weight tripod has a difficult time support (thus stabilizing) the overall lens. I have two other lenses of this caliber and they are now left in the bag. This is my go to lens. Aside from the weight, I have no complaints concerning this lens and would highly recomend it to the novice photographer. As stated in the title, this is a mid-range lens. However, it provides as much as lenses costing even double the price. It is a good way to ease in.

  • Extremely pleased with this lens.

I am extremely pleased with this lens. It is heavy and hard to hand-hold, but from a tripod and used deliberatively it is extremely sharp, has an enormous zoom range, minimal distortion and vignetting only at the very wide end shot wide open. I was a commercial shooter for nearly 40 years and now teach college level photography so I've shot lots of equipment from 8x10 on down. I cannot speak to the auto-focus because I do not use it. The stabilization, as with nearly all lenses is overrated unless you are shooting to lower res output like Photo-J, sports, etc. But shot carefully, this is a lot of lens for the money!

  • Sharp, great zoom range

Super sharp lens takes great photos. I really liked the zoom, I found myself using the full zoom range often. It has a great os system, fast focus. It closes up short enough to fit in camera bags and cases.
