Product Information

Possibly one of the most well-known characters in the history of anime, Astro Boy was originally the creation of Japan's prime comic-creator, Osamu Tezuka. First seen in comic books, the character went on to appear on television in a black-and-white series throughout the 1960s and '70s, all before starring in this 2004 color series. Set in the year 2030, the show follows Astro Boy, a small young robot who is adopted and trained to save the universe after being deserted by his inventor. Dr. Elefun takes the robot in, teaching him how to use his powers for the good of humanity. With his giving personality, flying ability, and inhuman strength, who better to take on the bad forces of the world than this diminutive boy-machine? This best-of collection contains seven episodes which serve as introductions to the series' main characters. Episodes include "Birth of Astro," "Robio and Robiette," "Liar Robot," "Greatest Robot in the World part 1," "Uran's Twin," "The Robots Nobody Wanted," and "Astro's First Love."

A cartoon for Good People.
Astroboy was the first cartoon to address Civil Rights. For my self a young colored boy living on the east coast, Racism loomed large and mean in my early life. And Astroboy and JFK were glimmers of hope in a world that was otherwise rife with hate. Our world today needs cartoons like Astroboy. As Sex and violence overwhelm the airwaves. this little boy robot, cuts through the slime that is passed off as entertainment, to show that basic family values still shine strong as REAL, Good and worthy of our time.Astroboy was the first cartoon to address Civil Rights. great animation for the 60's
This is part of Manga history. This should be in the collection of anyone who is interested in manga or anime. Osamu Tezeka is a great story teller. This series is great for small kids and sophisticated enough for their parents.

this is a really classic cartoon/anime show. i do like the original black and white episodes better but uve got to love it in color too.
