I bought this lens to help me get in close to photograph motor cycle racing. Although the 4/3 system may not be ideal for such action shots the super light weight of the whole kit is a major advantage, particularly for someone of my age. This lens is fast and produces superb image quality throughout its range and the image stabiliser allows hand held shooting even at full extension - 600mm in 35mm terms. It is surprisingly light and does not make my G3 too front heavy, although wherever possible I do use a monopod. I've even managed some good video footage through this lens, but in future will probably stick to my 45-175mm auto zoom for this task, although it not does not have quite the reach the zoom buttons do help to use when shooting video - yes I know I'm not supposed to zoom during filming but a little does work. Anyway, bottom line is its a great lens if you need to get in close.Read full review
Heavy, but feels solidly built; the zoom is good and easy, but the manual focus ring feels a bit stiff; the best is it's size compared to non mft camera equivalent lenses for that range and fairly cheap!

The lens is exactly what I need: I take pictures and video of cars both on and off racing circuits and I needed something a bit longer focal length than the excellent 14-140 lens my G7 came with. I publish the images online and to illustrate articles. The video I use for leads on YouTube. The lens shines at this. For £327 it is a bargain. A tripod is best for highest magnification, even with Panasonic's excellent image stabilisation software, but I also use a monopod and it's OK for A4. I was a bit concerned about the reports of sticky zooming but my lens is smooth. I'm impressed by the quality of the lens. The price is enticing. I'm glad I went for it.

Wanted one of these lenses for sometime. These are now retailing for a lot more than the price paid therefore delighted with the purchase. The lens is typical Panasonic quality and with the extra cover taken out will give years of good service as with all other lenses in this range

Excellent micro 4/3 lens and just needs a tripod adapter, which I have ordered. Should be very useful for lightweight astrophotography.

Could be sharper at full zoom but reasonable sharp results, especially at sweet spot. Would need to spend 3 times or more for a pro lens to get anything better.

Not as sharp as Olympus lens and not quite as quick. All functions work well but can’t handle low Procapture features.
