Have always been an Elton John fan and YBR is no exception. The Blu-ray Audio disc sounds flawless, but I don't remember it sounding as tinny (a lot of treble) especially the guitars, and lacking the low end bass. I have an LP version that I will listen to for comparison to see if that is the way it was originally recorded of if they changed the presentation when re-mastering it for the surround sound version. All in all, it is a joy to listen to, and a great value compared to what you would have to pay for the DVD-Audio/SACD version that is becoming rare and a hard to find OOP.

not really an elton john fan, but i do have some favorites. matter of fact, this is my first album i have of his. but the real reason i bought this blu-ray audio is for the 5.1 format. well, this product surpassed my expectations for sound quality. beautiful tonal spectrum surround sound with his voice in center speaker and individual guitars in the back speakers. they all blend great when you are sitting in the middle of it all. i am hoping this blu-ray audio style music catches on for other albums. if it does, i'll need to replace my whole cd library collectio.

Fantastic hi-res sound with the blu-ray audio--no need to buy an expensive SACD. Since it is a blu-ray disc, I would have had no way to rip MP3 files from it, but the included code for an online high quality download worked just fine. As for the album itself, there are some fantastic songs here and about 3/4 filler--a typical Elton John album from this era. The good stuff is really great and makes the purchase worthwhile. Good surround mix.

I saw only glowing reviews for this disc, some even said that this was there go-to disc to show off their surround sound systems. I totally agree. It is nothing short of amazing at how each instrument has its only place in the soundfield. Harmonizing vocals as well come from the rear speakers, etc. But, what I was most surprised about was the warmth and clarity of Elton's voice. It is obviously not re-recorded, but it sounds to me like they took all the effects (reverb?) off his voice or something. Everyone I have played it for has been equally amazed.

Some multi-channel audio is mixed/remastered well and some are terrible. Elton's GYBR is very well done. Enough in the surround mix to immerse you in the music but not distracting or 'gimmicky' as too many surround re-mixes have been done by others. Well done and recommended.
