Synopsis
With the restoration of the Pompadour apartments at Versailles, there is a renewed interest in the opulent fashions in interior decoration of the eighteenth century. The use of turquoise with gold accents, the lush velvet upholstery and the expensive iridescent wall hangings all bear witness to a style that indulged in spite of revolutions, wars, looting and fires. Lalande and Trillard reveal the harmony between antique extravagance and contemporary decoration that characterises the revival of this style. They survey thirty excellent examples of this quintessential blending of refined detail and showy affluence., Whoever said "Everything old is new again" could have been talking about French Pompadour Style. The flamboyant, opulent, refined aesthetic--so characteristic of the eighteenth century--has enjoyed a spectacular revival in recent years. In The New Eighteenth-Century Style, journalist Michèle Lalande and photographer Gilles Trillard, both experts in the field of interior décor, survey 30 examples of this quintessential blending of exquisite detail and ostentatious affluence. From lush velvet upholstery to the emblematic use of turquoise with gold accents, these perfectly captured interiors beguile the reader with well-worn extravagance. In an era of "shabby chic" the more refined, more pristine accents of Pompadour may be just what the world of interior décor needs--and this beautiful book provides an indispensable guide., Whoever said "Everything old is new again" could have been talking about French Pompadour Style. The item was exactly as described; very well packaged and extremely fast shipping! However, the location stated US, not Uruguay. Honest transparency is expected when purchasing. I noticed another review made the same comment. I didn’t read the reviews until after I made the purchase. The seller should be truthful regarding location.

I've been in the USA (Miami, FL 33106) for over 22 years, but the confusion is that part of my heritage is in a free trade zone, and other in Argentina orUruguay. That's why the documentation often leaves from there, but the merchandise is in transit or even in the Miami free port zone. On the other hand, returns will always be received on the mainland. I think that in the end, the issue would be somewhat irrelevant, because always the important thing is a satisfied customer with the purchase.
