Plot kept me interested. Good story.

Good story. Kept me interested. Set at a different time than the photo that inspired its writing. What people will do when they are desperate.

    TMI

Every sentence in this story is justified or explained by the author. Nothing is left for the reader to decipher. At first the basis of the story held my attention, but so much was either contrived or too predictable. I’m shocked that the book was rated well.

  • contains profanity

I had looked forward to reading Sold on a Monday after reading what the book was about. I didn't get very far into the story before there was mild profanity. Realizing that it came from the main character, I figured there would be more profanity throughout the story. Needless to say, the book ended up in my trash can.

  • Good Read

Quality and condition of book is as described or better. Content is thought providing using historical fiction as vehicle. Title and cover illustration are a grabber but story does not focus on children but on the newspaper staff.

  • Quick reading and very well written,.

Enjoyed reading the book very much. I was born during that time and, thank goodness, my parents never thought of selling me!!!

  • Bait and switch

The title, Sold on a Monday, and picture enticed me yo think the book had historical information in a novel form. Nope! A shallow story about the sign (sold on a Monday), not much about the issue of children during the Great Depression.

  • Intriguing title.

Great story based on a heart-breaking reality in the 1930's. Book was in new condition.

  • Good Book

This was a fast read. I yawned a couple of times but otherwise a really good book.

  • heartbreaking title of a very dark time in our history-very fitting

I have not finished reading yet, but it is beautifully written and has definitely reeled me in. I have already cried.
