    Small footprint = big performance.

Hadn't installed a new modem for quite a few years. The netgear installation was less problem than anticipated. This is a "cable" modem and is connected directly to my Xfinity cable. No problems with compatibility. Connected the modem "solo" ie: no wireless, directly to the computer,, WoW ,, my guess is three times as fast (when running hardwired modem only). Connected the companion wi-fi and the wifi speed was approx double my old modem running wifi. This Netgear system is relatively inexpensive in relation to other "higher priced" wireless modems but has plenty of speed for my uses.

    Consider buying 3.1 instead

The modem works well for what it is - a 3.0 docsis rather than 3.1. This item was on my service provider’s list of approved modems yet I discovered in the real world it doesn’t work as well as the 3.1. I have talked to Mediacom and they essentially told me the reason my internet service is so spotty (in and out all day long) is directly connected to 3.0 vs 3.0 differences. All said, this modem probably works as it should for what it is but I will have to either buy a 3.1 modem or rent the same from Mediacom. Wish I had known this prior to purchase.

  • dependable performance basic price

For a basic line modem it performs as well as more expensive ones such as the Motorola mb7220 i had before...the case is a little thinner but that actually helps with cooling...the only real difference is no power button on back..you accomplish that by removing the pin plug which isnt really any more effort. A good basic modem that delivers

  • Great value and easy to use

This modem was a breeze to setup and has worked flawlessly ever since. Just called my ISP to register the serial number to activate it then Hooked it up and plugged it into power. All done

  • Does it job

I use it for Xfinity, 150mbps. It does its job, I have no complaints. I actually like the fact that you can barely see the lights, that way you won't have some annoying green lights when it's dark in the room. Very satisfied with it.

  • Great modem but need ISP firmwares update

I received the modem on time and tried to set it up with Spectrum, after give MAC address update and power up the upstream light keep red and modem would not have internet connect. In short, ask the ISP to update your modem firmware first that would solve the problem.

  • Better than renting from your cable provider

Works great, I own it and am not paying $15 a month for the cable company modem. Honestly it fixed our connectivity problems. Every time we called the cable company to complain it was always our router. Once I hooked this up and got the cable company to “activate” it our connectivity problems have all but disappeared. Still have to reboot the router about once a month, but we use to have to reboot it several times a day.

  • Great cable box, great price!

The product met my needs for Cablevision connection; and is also a great backup when having more than one cable set up. Happy with the product, and would recommend it.

  • Netgear CM500 Modem

Only using this device with 100mbs service so it's not very challenged, but for what I ask of it, works well. Coupled with an AC1900 router and using it on 5 computers and 4 TV's for mostly internet, but also streaming movies on a couple of Tv's. .Highly recommend and the price ain't too shabby either.
