Not quite as good as it looks
The shortcomings: - The magnifying glass arm has a very limited movement range and will begin to fall after a few seconds. - The rigid third hand's adjustment nuts bend the metal out of shape when you tighten them, and doesn't even improve the weight bearing. - The copper mesh looks more like brass and doesn't clean an iron very well at all. - The base has a single rubber foot at the very back, so if you bump it, it'll pivot away from you and move the magnifier out of position. - The solder sponge plate doesn't hold onto the sponge, so it's easy to accidentally drag it off the plate when cleaning your iron. The positives: - The magnifier is decent, and the LEDs are quite bright. You get good visibility from it, although the limited movement range hampers that somewhat. - The soldering ... Ultimately it's not a terrible product, however, it's not worth the $50 I paid for it. Unless you're hurting for workbench space, you'd be much better off buying a proper desk mounted magnifier, and a separate third hand capable of holding up a decent weight.

Awesome gadget!
Bought this with high hopes and WOW! it has lived up to them perfectly! The flex arm I'm quessing is for just holding wire in place while you solder so doesn't need to be strong in holding capacity. It comes with only one rubber pad for the base of the stand which is a bit silly but it's long enough to cut up to make 4 smaller pads which did the trick for me. Absolutely love it!! :D
