In New York, the young executive Oliver "Ollie" Trinke is a successful PR of the music industry. He meets and falls in love for Gertrude Steiney, who soon gets pregnant. However, she dies in the childbirth and Ollie decides to return to his father's home in New Jersey. Pressed by the situation of lonely father, the workaholic Ollie blows-up in an important press conference and makes a fatal statement, losing his job and becoming blacklisted in his publicist career. He promises to be the "best father in the world" to the young Gertie, and stays single, grieving his beloved wife, without dating any woman for seven years and trying to retrieve a position of public relation. One day, he meets the rental clerk Maya, they become friends and she helps him to supersede his past life. A light-hearted comedy. It's a feel good movie that never takes itself too seriously, but is very entertaining. A very good and touching movie. The all-star cast does a great job, and you can really feel the chemistry. If you aren't looking for a serious drama, then Jersey Girl is what you want.Read full review
We saw the ending of this movie on cable television. It seemed interesting enough for the price it was offered for. In whole, it is a good movie, the interaction between father, grandfather and daughter is believable. Jennifer Lopez was great for the short time she appears. Ben Affleck was good as Ollie because he did make me feel the emotions he was going through. The little girl sometimes chewed the scenery to much, a little bit of cute goes a long way. It's a good Saturday afternoon chick flick. Not too fluffy, not too serious with about the right about of humor. Some of the topics are not suitable for young children, unless you enjoy trying to explain sexually explicit subjects and remarks. I'm glad I waited for it to come out on DVD, but thought I received good value for the selling price.Read full review
I am from NJ which was the reason for watching the movie in the first place. He movie ended up being very cute and entertaining. I actually really liked it, and not just because it was a move that finally talked about NJ in a positive way. I would definitely recommend seeing it.

My girls and I love this movie!! It is one of our all time favorites. Staring Ben Affleck as a father who has lost his wife after she gave birth to their daughter. The daughter is then raised by him and his father. This movie gives a look into the life of a single father trying to raise his daughter and grieving for his wife. He doesnt take care of her like he should at first he is too absorbed in mourning the loss of his wife and work. Finally he snaps and loses his job. Its very interesting movie and well worth the purchase.
This movie was a good one. It showed a softer side of George Carling (MY FAVORITE STAND UP COMEDIAN) I even liked his short lived serries on Fox. I know he was also the train conductor on THOMAS. Ok lets get back to the review. This was a drama, if it was just a comedy, I would have given it a 5 out of 5. There are so many funny scenes in this movie to go along with the sad parts. I would recomend this to all of the people who enjoy a good laugh, and a good cry at the same time.
