An improved product compared with the FE-4030. Image quality is excellent. As one expects from the camera being very compact, stabilization at full optical zoom is not optimal when handheld. When braced tho, captured image is also excellent.

I purchased this Olympus VR-340 to replace one I have had for 8 years that was recently damaged. Super macro, 10x optical zoom and 16 megapixel features will compete with most any new pocket camera available. In fact I recently purchased a new $160 Canon ELPH 190 and it is no better than the VR-340. The ELPH is smaller, however I find my thumb hitting the function button when taking pictures. The VR-340 is sturdier. For example, it has a spring loaded latched battery door the 340 doesn't have. I should have just bought the 340. The 340 has a larger LCD display than the smaller cameras.

this camera as any other Olympus has it's unique design , that's what I like about this brand ; from the old point and shoot models with the sliding doors and hidden screws (which I love it ), to the new ones, are all challenging for me as a technician . This particular one is recommended as a family camera , it has all what anybody needs to have funny pictures .
Fun little camera! It has a good retro film-like aesthetic to it and it's super easy to use. The only downside is the one I have is a little malfunctioning however it's not a giant deal it still takes photos well and it's 11 years old, so some issues is usual.
