      Exciting and thoughtful

      Escape – To Freedom and Suspense This Mervin Le Roy production is a formidable entry in those early WWII American movies that gave us a glimpse into what was happening in Germany and the extent of the damage being metered upon so many diverse innocent bystanders. There’s plenty of tense situations in this story of American (Taylor) attempting to find and rescue his mother from a concentration camp – where she has just days before execution. Phillip Dorn (Reunion In France ’41) does well in his role of a sympathetic camp Doctor. Conrad Veidt is effective as the staunch and dedicated SS Officer determined to crush all attempts at escape.
