    SS Locking Lifting Ring

    These are inexpensive stainless steel latches many boat manufacturers put on a lot of models of boats. They are reasonably well made for the price point. They are the replacement model for the ones on my 1999 Scout 191 bay boat. The latches last, but the salt water environment eventually eats the cast zinc internal tumbler inside the lock. It becomes a sacrificial anode. For the money, it is a simple fix for an imperfect product. When new they work well. After three years, unless you spray lube into the tumble once or twice a year, they will seize up. Then you have to order more. To replace Insert a flat blade and turn hard and the lock comes apart. If not drill out the lock. Replacement takes 5 minutes. All brands have the same fault. It the latches were more expensive , I would be ...
