This is a late-model (ca. 2005) Palm Product, and it has a lot of bells and whistles.

The instructions were confusing concerning shipping the palm to them. I finally figured I should not wait for a label or box and just ship it to them. The Palm as sent back still acts as if it has a bad battery. It has to be kept plugged in, has to be reset to turn on and boot up and shows a low battery message when I try to turn on WiFi. My take is that I threw out my money.

I can't really compare this to Palm's new webOS, so I say this Tungsten T5 is "the perfect PDA" with maybe a little reservation. It's easily the best Palm device I've ever had, and I in my searches to replace devices, nothing tops the T5. It's fast, has a gorgeous screen, is very responsive, and is compatible out of the box with all of my Macs. As to disad's, there are two. (Well, really only one and a half.) The main problem is lack of built-in WiFi. You can buy a card to slap in the SD slot if you're willing to part with at minimum $45, but it's really the kind of thing Palm should've built into the device. The other problem is the limit on the SD card slot. Out of the box, the T5 can only access 2GB cards. I call that a "half-problem" because there is a software solution (or hack) that enables the Palm to read SDHC cards up to 32 GB... of course, this may be because there are as yet no cards on the market larger than 32 GB, but I digress. Anyway, it's an unfortunate shortcoming, but easily surmountable. The absence of WiFi is this models only real significant problem--it really should have been either built in, or a card should have been supplied with each device. Other than that, it is easily the best, fastest, most beautiful PalmOS device you'll use.Read full review
This purchase was a replacement for my first Tungsten T5 that I dropped one time too many. I bought the same model because the features are exactly what I wanted in a PDA. It has unlimited storage when using the SD flash chips, so I can store my music on one , photos on another, documents on another, etc. With one of those inexpensive ($10-20) FM transmitters plugged into the headphone jack, I can play my music on any nearby FM radio. The unit synchronizes with my Outlook mail, calendar and contacts, so I always have my most current personal info. With additional software I am able to read, edit and create Word and Excel documents. I can play photo slideshows, which the relatives just love when I visit, and the ability to flip the display between portrait and landscape is a great feature. Recently I purchased an encyclopedia and a dictionary compatible for Palms on SD chips and now I have a wealth of info literally at my fingertips. I am taking an American Sign Language class and found inexpensive ASL teaching software that I loaded onto the Tungsten and can now practice my "signing" anywhere, anytime. Because you can put it into "drive" mode, it will act exacly like a hard drive when I connect it to my PC so that I can swap files back and forth just like any other storage device. I connect it to Avantgo when I hotsync it each morning and download info from several web sites, including all the movie listings/times for local movie theaters. This is quite handy for my family when we're out and about on weekends and suddenly decide to catch a flick at the nearby mall. It also has bluetooth capabilities which I hope to start using with my new bluetooth-adaptable laptop. I gave it a 4 rating because my only beef with it is that the display is hard to see in sunlight.Read full review
I have just had to recently replace my T5, due to error on my part. The T5 has been very dependable, and worked error free for 5 years, and I more then happy with it. It has a very large memory, although I wish you could use the full memory for programs, as well as storage (this would have gotten it a rating of 5). It utilizes flash memory, so you will not lose any information if the battery gets completely drained, which saved me a more then a few times. The memorey is expandable with the SD memorey slot, so it is virtually unlimited. The battery life is long enough for all necessary tasks through out the day, and gives you some game time (if you are into games) to kill time. PROS: Large amount of memorey very user friendly (as with all prvious Palm products) Long battery life Flash memory Expandable SD memorey slot CONS: Internal memory is split into a program/storage and a storage drive only You can't go wrong with the T5 if you want a great and simple to use PDA.Read full review
