This sequel to the popular PRINCESS DIARIES collection may go down as Norah Jones's teen-flick soundtrack debut; her version of Elvis Presley's "Love Me Tender" finds the singer at her offhanded best, sliding smoothly through the classic song ... Full Descriptionlike she'd just written it herself. A gentle Celtic tinge lurks underneath the pop hooks of Kelly Clarkson's anthemic "Breakaway," while Avril Lavigne's attractive retro-punk persona makes its presence felt in the bratty "I Always Get What I Want," and Pink's "Trouble" gives a knowing nod to 1980s rock. Julie Andrews, no stranger to family-oriented movies, makes a welcome appearance singing with the teen idol Raven on the beguiling "Your Crowning Glory," while Wilson Phillips turns in a version of the Beach Boys' "Dance, Dance, Dance" that recalls nothing so much as the glory days of the Go-Go's. The soundtrack to Disney's 2004 Cinderella sequel The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement offers a wide variety of young Disney stars (Raven--who has a small part in the movie--Lindsay Lohan, Jesse McCartney, Christy Carlson Romano), hot vocalists (American Idol's Kelly Clarkson, Norah Jones), and head-banging rockers (Avril Lavigne, Pink). The best tracks are Clarkson's "Breakaway," Raven's "This Is My Time," Renee Olstead's Norah-esque "A Love That Will Last," and "Your Crowning Glory," a duet between Raven and Julie Andrews. It's not a flashy showcase for Andrews, who begins it in a half-sung, half-spoken style before Raven joins her to a funky beat. But just hearing the beloved film and stage star sing at all after the problems she's experienced following botched vocal-cord surgery in the late '90s... well, it might just bring a tear to your eye. Steve Harwell is the lead singer for Smash Mouth.Read full review
Very eclectic, a mix of types, styles, and somehow wrapping up the experience of the movie Princess Diaries 2 without being enslaved to it, this is just a good listening CD, no matter if you liked the movie or not. The original movie The Princess Diaries had a more conventional soundtrack. Don't confuse the two, and if your kid wants "the Princess Diaries" soundtrack the odds are the kid wants THIS one, so check and make sure before you hunt down the rarer and more expensive soundtrack to the first one.
I thoroughly enjoyed this CD. There are top songs that are just awesome. Specially love the Japanese song Miracles can happen. It is very different. The whole Cd is great. You won't regret purchasing this album.
This is my favorite movie soundtrack. The main reason being "Your Crowning Glory" with parts sung by Julie Andrews. I also like many of the other songs, which really go with the theme of the movie. My other favorites are "Breakaway" and "I Decide."
this is an awesome soundtrack it is fun and enjoyable to listen to the best songs on this soundtrack are all of them. If you have not listened to this soundtrack then I recommend you do
