Great sound is one of the most important things in filmmaking
I have learned many lessons as a filmmaker and the most important ones is getting good sound. Rode literally make the best products on the market. The RODE Videomic Pro is one of the leading microphones for DSLR shooting. You just have to look at how many pro's use this mic to know that it's a winner. I can recommend this mic as one of the best in its class.

It's a great mic, but
Overall its a great Mic, however, it's nearly been 2 months of careful use and the cable on it is already having a few issues. I'd recommend going with the Videomic Pro Plus instead as it has a replaceable cord.

I have not used it much as yet but what I have seen is clear quality with minimal external wind noise, the mic does seem to be directional and therefore a better pickup from directly in front and tends to struggle over a few meters, but that isn't what is designed for, overall a great product
