Do not believe the printed specifications I am an electronic engineer with 30 years experience as a train modeller. Indicated to my family that they can buy me mobile decoders for Christmas and birthdays. I ended up with 30+. Unfortunately many Digitrax was bought. I have ROCO and Fleischmann trains. None of the decoders come anywhere close to the sustained current (Amps) being touted. I have even bench tested decoders at half indicated load and to be kind to the decoder, only used resistive loads. They still fail. I have discarded all but 2. The dealers do not want to take them back and it is difficult to deal with Digitrax when time elapsed. As mine are gifts, I do not have receipts and installing 20 takes months. Digitrax charge $17 to replace + mail cost. Then you end up with the same thing that did not work in the first place.Read full review

Great decoder for ho scale. This decoder has 2 functions besides motor control. They are the front and rear light leads which automatically switch when backing up. If you need more functions the Dh166 has these for a few bucks more.
