It worked but I HAD TO INSTALL THE NEWER VERSION OF XJT FIRST on my Taranis Q X7 from frsky-rc dot com , then I had to copy the files on a FAT32 microSD and recopy the same files from the microSD to the microSD again to prevent a data refused error. After writing XJT, it worked, I used Internal RF, XJT, 16 ch,correct model#, bind (with 8ch, no telemetry)but I had to hold the XSR-SIM triangle button while plugging it in for bind mode (the red light stays solid).
